Welcome to my new blog! I hope I write freely and learn from my classmates as well.
I hope to gain as much insight as I can in this class on how to further my knowledge of healing from within so that I might help others.
When I listened to the journey on relaxation I found it difficult to concentrate at first. I didn't think it would work, my daughter kept coming in and asking me questions, the dogs were acting crazy and barking. However, when I didn't react or answer the kids or the dogs, they eventually left me alone. About 4 minutes in I felt more peaceful and calm. I started really visualizing what he was saying, picturing the circulation in my body. It ended up being a little 15 minute vacation for my mind!! Not bad considering I was hiding in my room with the lights out.... :)

Hello Katie! I also hope to gain everything I can on healing for myself and others! I really enjoy how your mood was set with the kids and dogs. That shows the typical household with noise and stressors. However you channeled you mind somewhere else unintentionally. I also did not think it would work, I was alone however. I have a lot on my plate these days. I just returned from deployment, just opened my own CrossFit Box, I am taking classes and dealing with my transition back to M day side for the military. It is safe to say I am just stressed these days. This 15 minute movie took me away and I felt relaxed enough to go to sleep afterwords.

ReplyDeleteSometimes hiding in our rooms with the lights out and listening to these types of contemplative works is the only way we can get some peace :)

I really like the fact that you were honest about the distractions that were occurring during the beginning of your relaxation journey. I think your method rocked, because you let your mind and body naturally get in tune with one another without forcing it to happen. Glad you ended up having a positive experience.
